The benefits of working from home are many but I have made a list of the ones I think are the most important and why…

Flexibility: I love being able to choose my own hours. The alarm went off at 6 this morning but I just snoozed it until I was ready to get up. I will work a bit longer this afternoon instead.

No Commute: I love not having to battle the traffic to work every day now. I can literally come down stairs in my PJs and start work. It’s just great

No Ties: I can work from anywhere I want to. I am no longer tied to an office or place I need to be. As I have an internet business I just pick it up and take it with me. I can work form anywhere in the world as long as there is an internet connection. That freedom is priceless!

More Time: I have time to do the things I like now. I don’t have to miss out on things in the day because I am at work. I was able to go and watch my niece play hockey last week, how great is that?

Better Relationships: I am able to spend more time with the people I love rather than having to spend time with the people I work with. This has made such a difference to my outlook on life. I never had time to go and visit friends before because I was either at work, or too tired to go out afterwards.

No Office Politics: Not having to listen to the bitching and whining of my colleagues is brilliant. I hated getting involved in gossip and I hated even more having to do what someone else thought I should do be doing or even worse, saying. Having to say the right thing to the right person at the right time… Yuk!

More Holidays: I don’t have to beg for time off now. I can take time off whenever I like and for as long as I like. The funny thing is though, I don’t want time off any more.
Choose My Own Pay: I don’t let anyone else decide what I am worth any more. I set my sights on what I want and go for it. There is no cap on my pay now, I can earn as much as I want to.

Less Tax: Being self employed has massive tax advantages, you pay far less than an employed person.

For those of you who are thinking ah, but you don’t get holiday pay or sick pay, actually, strictly speaking neither do you. It is all built into what they pay you. If you are self employed you just put aside an amount each month to cover it and that is your holiday pay – or sick pay or whatever. What you save in taxes would easily cover it anyway. It’s really simple.

So these are the benefits of working from home as I see them. I am sure you would have some more too.
